Work is well underway for Ward Freman Community Pool Group to become the owners of Ward Freman swimming pool. The county council are finalising the legal pack for our solicitors and we anticipate the transfer to be completed by the end of February. Our recent Crowdfunder campaign raised nearly £33,000 to repair the pool tiles. We benefitted from a match funding award from Sport England, who clearly see the value in what we are working towards. As soon as we get in, work will begin on getting the pool repaired, spruced up and ready to open. Other funding from East Herts District Council is in place and our contractors are ready to go, we just need the keys! Those of you brave enough to undertake the Buntingford 10 road run on 28th December will have seen us serving cakes and hot drinks to the participants and volunteers. Our generous team of bakers ensured a good supply of sweet goods which raised over £600 for the tiles too. Fund raising continues as repair of the tiles is just the first step in our vision to create a real asset for Buntingford, one of which we can all be proud. The long term vision is to improve the changing facilities and create a café with improved pool viewing. You can view the plans on our website at www.wardfremanpool.org In the meantime look out for more fundraising events on our website and Facebook page over the coming weeks including a race night!
