Stapleford Granary is a hub for music, art, education & conversation, set in a beautiful 19th century farm complex with outstanding facilities, at the foot of the Gog Magog Downs.
For younger visitors, a trip to Stapleford Granary is a relaxed, inspiring and creative way to while away a morning or afternoon during the school holidays.
Drop in at one of our hugely popular Crafty Thursdays or Messy Tuesdays (just £4 for a child, age 3+, advance booking strongly advised); perfect for keeping little hands and minds curious and imaginative. In July and August the Granary team will be crafting paper flowers, a paper pizza party, hopping frogs, crowns and wands; you can make a safari-inspired collage or join us for junk modelling to make recycled robots. Then wander into our idyllic little orchard, with its abundance of wildlife and views over the fen, and enjoy a beautiful coffee, cake, soft drinks and ice cream from the restored coffee horsebox. Inside the main building, our summer exhibition – Shirley Baker: Children at Play – shows street photography taken during the 1960s and 70s with a focus on children ‘playing out’ in Manchester and Salford. A special (free) children’s exhibition guide helps younger visitor explore, and encourages conversation about the ways ‘playing out’ has changed over the years. Bring along a photograph of yourself playing out, pin it to our board and help us build up a picture of what ‘playing out’ looks like in our community.
