Residents and visitors are invited to step behind the scenes of Cambridge this September as Open Cambridge returns with ten days of free tours, exhibitions, talks and open days celebrating the city’s history, research and culture.
Running from 11th–20th September, the annual festival offers opportunities to explore places that are rarely open to the public, meet the people behind them and discover stories that have shaped Cambridge over the centuries.
Highlights include a special open day at the Churchill Archives Centre, visits to college libraries at Trinity, St John’s and Corpus Christi, and a family-friendly open day at the Museum of Cambridge.
Families can also enjoy live music, arts and crafts, fitness tasters and activities at the Storey’s Field Centre Showcase in Eddington. Other events include archaeology talks about Wandlebury Hillfort, Second World War stories at the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial, artefacts at the Lawrence Room Museum at Girton College and visits to Histon Road Cemetery.
Most events are free, although some require advance booking because places are limited.
