UNCLE (Uplifting Nepal’s Children with Love and Education: Charity No. 1126515) are a Royston-based charity supporting 30+ children and all their needs, in two hostels in Nepal. We are collecting for the uniforms, textbooks, writing equipment and school fees for the coming school year starting in April. Match funding has been offered for this appeal. For every £1 donated, another £1 will be added, up to a total of £1,000. Please make a donation, by visiting: www.justgiving.com/charity/uncle Thank you so much. Paul Harris
Dealing with financial challenges facing UNCLE
We operate in 2 areas of Nepal, in Kathmandu, where the orphanages are, and also at Hetauda, supporting a church we paid for, which ministers to a refugee population.
We support the ‘Hope for Children’ and ‘Trinity’ hostels, helping 32 children to have a secure home and a decent education.
We have managed to maintain our regular payments, sending £4,650 each quarter to pay for their rent and food, their clothing, bedding, heating, cooking, medical costs, indeed everything they need to survive.
In April the academic year starts in Nepal and we then need to find an additional sum to ensure the children can continue to go to school for another year. The sum is usually in excess of £2,000.
At Christmas we send £500 to each orphanage for presents and winter clothes for the children. The orphanages are the focus for this Christian celebration.
Every year special priorities arise that call for urgent funds. Last May we sent money to pay for necessary vaccinations.
We have operated as a Charity since 2008 and benefit from claiming Gift Aid of 25% on our donations, wherever possible.
78% of donations in the last financial year were Gift Aided.
In total, since the charity started, we have raised in excess of £400,000.
The bedrock of our support remains those churches and individuals who have supported UNCLE over the years. With your support we can continue to serve the children of Nepal with love and education into the future.
