Happy 50th Anniversary to Great Shelford Country Market!
Question: why there is a queue outside the Memorial Hall in Great Shelford every Wednesday morning? Answer: the people in this queue know that they will have first pick of the products on offer at Great Shelford Country Market that week. And that’s been the way for the last 50 years….
Great Shelford Country Market was founded in 1976 when a group of local cooks, growers and crafters came together to offer home-baked cakes, bread and cookies, home-made preserves, garden-grown plants, flowers and vegetables and handcrafted items. 50 years on, little has changed, bar the addition of a few rules. We pride ourselves on the care we take to offer delicious food, excellent value plants and flowers, wholesome garden produce and useful and beautiful crafts. And we are also great for the environment – almost no road miles and definitely no air miles!
Our customers love to browse and chat and then stay for a tea or coffee and a delicious home-baked biscuit in our friendly café. It’s a regular meeting place for old friends and somewhere to strike up new conversations.
On Wednesday 17th June we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary and it will be a very special occasion. We’d love to see you there! Or if you can’t make it, do drop in anytime.
Every Wednesday 9 – 11.30 am,
