Grand Safari in Cambridge

Families are invited to embark on an incredible safari at Grand Arcade, Cambridge and the University of Cambridge Museum of Zoology this Summer.

Take a walk on the wild side at BRICKLIVE Grand Safari, an exhibition running from 10th to 27th August, featuring 15 extraordinary creatures handcrafted entirely from tiny bricks.

BRICKLIVE’S Grand Safari trail is an immersive and fun way to educate young (and the not so young) on the theme of endangered animal species.

Each model is a true work of art; the Bengal tiger, bearing its razor-sharp teeth, is made from a mind-blowing 81,350 bricks and took 392 hours to build. Come face-to-face with a proud African lion, a mighty orangutan and a playful emperor penguin. Watch out for the giant panda munching a bamboo shoot, tiptoe quietly to catch a glimpse of the elusive snow leopard, witness the graceful dolphin mid-leap and look to Grand Arcade’s sky-lit roof to marvel at the vibrant macaws perched in a tree.

This astounding exhibition has thrilled animal-lovers across the three continents of Asia, Europe and the Americas since its premiere in 2018, so don’t miss the chance to marvel at its magnificent brick-tastic creatures when it transforms Grand Arcade into a wildlife paradise.

The safari takes you on a global quest through four habitats: Wildlands, Snow and Ice, Ocean and Jungle.
Follow the Trail Map around the Grand Arcade and find out fascinating facts by reading the information cards. Watch out for interactive photo opportunities in the Selfie Zone, or take the wheel of the 4×4 in the interactive Jeep created from a staggering 71,454 bricks.

Afterwards, why not pop into the Museum of Zoology nearby to see the real thing (or an animal close to it!). Entrance is free.
Dr Roz Wade, from the University of Cambridge Museum of Zoology, said: “We are delighted to join the Grand Arcade on this amazing safari adventure. It’s so important that we increase our understanding of these wonderful animals and of the conservation issues that surround the natural world.”
