From Disneyland Struggles to Slimming World Success
A family holiday to Disneyland Paris became the turning point for Buntingford resident Michele when she found herself breathless and struggling to fasten safety bars on rides.
“I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable,” she says. “I’d always been plus-size, but during COVID the weight piled on. That holiday made me realise something had to change.”
Starting at 19 stone 6½ lbs (UK size 24), Michele joined Slimming World Buntingford with Cass, feeling nervous and unsure what to expect.
“I felt anxious walking through the door. But I soon realised other members had felt exactly the same – and they understood. I found support, encouragement and people who genuinely cared.”
Just over a year later, Michele has lost an incredible 7½ stone, moving from a UK size 24 to a UK size 14. She now loves walking, enjoys cooking from scratch and confidently wears clothes she once avoided.
Her commitment has been recognised locally – she was crowned Buntingford Slimming World Woman of the Year and named Buntingford Slimming World’s Greatest Loser 2026.
“I found more than weight loss,” Michele says. “I found confidence, belief and a healthier future.”
