At the most recent Royston Repair Café in May, owners were asked to bring broken items in readiness for the warmer summer weather.
They didn’t disappoint – of 23 items booked in, volunteer repairers achieved 16 fixes, including a garden umbrella, a lounger, two hedge trimmers, a garden spade, and three pairs of sharpened garden shears.
‘A stitch in time saves nine’ they say and, with the autumn not so far away, the Royston Repair Café is now inviting owners of broken items to clear out their sheds, basements, and lofts to ‘prepair for autumn’.
On Saturday 16th August, repairers will be on standby at the Coombes Community Centre in Royston 2 – 5pm. They could be replacing a button on a winter coat, repairing a coffee-making machine, mending a rake for those pesky leaves, or getting your vinyl back in use by repairing your record player.
The service is free but advance booking (from 28th July) is essential, via
